Ayyuhā l-muslimūn, ittaqū-llāha wa‘lamū anna l-waqta huwa l-ḥayāh. Qāla-llāhu ta‘āla: ﴿Wa huwa lladhī ja‘ala al-layla wan-nahāra khilfatan liman arāda an yadhakkar aw arāda shukūrā﴾… First Khutbah: All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide; whoever He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

O Muslims, fear Allah and know that time is life. Allah Almighty says: “And He is the One Who has made the night and day successive for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude.” (Qur’an 25:62) Every day that passes is a part of our lives that will never return. O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. Then the khaṭīb makes du‘ā’ for the Muslims, for strength of Islam, and for forgiveness, ending with: Indeed Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that you may take heed. So remember Allah, He will remember you. Be grateful to Him, and He will increase you. And the remembrance of Allah is greatest, and Allah knows what you do.
