He clicked Yes.
His finger hovered over the mouse. “It’s probably just a launcher,” he whispered to the empty room. “It’ll download the real assets later.”
His wallpaper vanished, replaced by a neon-green skull. A robotic voice, clipped and monotone, emanated from his speakers: “Your files are now encrypted. Pay 0.5 Bitcoin to restore access.”
