The revival brought back Wentworth Miller (Michael), Dominic Purcell (Lincoln), Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara), and Robert Knepper (T-Bag). All were busy with other projects (Miller and Purcell were starring on The Flash ). A 9-episode season allowed the actors to fit the shoot into their schedules without committing to a full year of production. The story also demanded location shoots in Morocco, which is expensive and logistically challenging for a longer season. The answer, however, was surprising
