I’ve been thinking about someone I’ll call Toni. Not a single person, but a type. The one who has remade herself so many times that the original blueprint is lost. Toni 1.0 was hopeful. If you meet Toni 4, you might mistake her for cold. You might say, “You’ve changed,” and mean it as an accusation. She won’t flinch. She’ll just nod.
